Heidelberg Materials

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world’s largest integrated producers of building materials and solutions, with leading market positions in cement, aggregates, and concrete in Belgium and the Netherlands. We are represented in the two countries by approximately 2,200 employees across 80 locations. Environmental responsibility is at the core of our actions. As a pioneer on the road to CO2 neutrality, Heidelberg Materials develops material solutions for the future. The Heidelberg Materials cement plant in Lixhe collaborates daily with the Autonomous Port of Liège. Located near a major rail and highway network in the province of Liège and adjacent to the Albert Canal, the Lixhe plant occupies a privileged position relative to national and international markets. Since 1950, the Lixhe facilities have included two quarries (Loën and Romont), a clinker production unit, and a grinding center. Situated on the Visé geological bank, the complex covers an area of 16 hectares. The Lixhe cement plant is equipped with several laboratories that handle the control of raw materials, fuels and alternative materials, as well as the various processing stages of the material and finished product. Approximately 80% of the cement produced is transported in bulk. The Lixhe cement plant is equipped with a fully automated bulk truck loading facility, consisting of weighbridges serving as loading points. Bulk deliveries are also made by waterway. Thanks to the proximity of the Albert Canal, 30% of bulk transportation is carried out by boat. The annual production capacity of Lixhe is 1.4 million tons of clinker and 1.5 million tons of cement of all types, delivered in various packaging. Heidelberg Materials Lixhe is ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), and OHSAS 18001 (safety) certified.
